Japan’s leading photographer and contemporary artist Nobuyoshi Araki is linking up with uniform experiment for a polaroid-inspired collection, allowing the experimental menswear brand to connect with the art world.
The collection includes hoodies, crewnecks and shirts in solid black, blue, white and gray colorways. Featured on the front of each piece is a single polaroid graphic of flowers with Akari x uniform experiment co-branding at the back. Collared long and short sleeves, along with a matching bandana, are entirely covered in prints of polaroids. The photos depict single shots or bouquets of flowers, such as sunflowers, roses and hibiscuses, that offer a range of colors. Nobuyoshi Araki’s work is also featured at “FLOWER HUDDLE,” an exhibition at Phillips Tokyo which features flower-related works from different artists. The show is available to the public until August 31.
The limited edition collection will be released at ISETAN MEN’S pop-up event on August 21, in-store at SOPH. retail locations starting August 22 and on SOPH.’s online store beginning September 2. Prices range from ¥3,500 to ¥28,000 (approx. $33 to $263 USD).
