YMC References British Subcultures in Pattern-Heavy Fall/Winter 2019 Collection
From rave culture to ’90s Manchester and London’s pre-punk scene in the ’70s.
YMC has switched up its aesthetic for Fall/Winter 2019, referencing the British rave scene, early-’90s Manchester and London’s pre-punk scene in the 1970s.
Founder Fraser Moss has captured his playful approach to menswear in the collection and lookbook, once again delivering a host of standout pieces utilizing premium fabrics and stand-out prints.
YMC has brought in shirting fabrics from Portugal, wools from Scotland, as well as corduroy and mohair from Italy for FW19. The label has coated some of its cotton pieces in GORE-TEX for a more technical, utilitarian feel, and has added premium finishing touches to garments by using Corozo buttons, Talon zips and shirts featuring a loop to hold your sunglasses in place.
Standout pieces include the Jocks Jacket, a grey cowhide leather, fully quilt-lined work jacket featuring a muted all-over leopard print, as well as the checkered zip-up Bowie Shirt. Other notable pieces include the Sylvian Pants, a pair of inverted-pleat dyed leopard print Jacquard trousers, as well as a selection of bucket hats and baseball caps that reflect the late ’80s and early ’90s theme.
