Willy Chavarria Teams Up With K-Swiss for SS20
Inspired by California Chicano culture.
Designer Willy Chavarria has unveiled his Spring/Summer 2020 collection, this time taking inspiration from California’s Chicano community. The collection features a mix of minimalist black pieces and colorful pastels evoking tennis prep and ’90s rave culture. The runway presentation also showcased custom sneakers from K-Swiss.
The SS20 collection utilizes a mix of denim, satin and Peruvian cotton, with bold graphics combined with sophisticated draping. Chavarria also continued his partnership with jewelry designer Chris Habana, with custom pieces for the collection. On the footwear front, the runway show features leather cowboy-style boots as well as K-Swiss’ Classic 2000 sneaker.
Chavarria launched his namesake line in 2015, having previously opened the menswear boutique Palmer Trading Company. His work has often touched on social justice and current events, with his Fall/Winter 2019 collection featuring T-shirts with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
