Scott Morrison of 3x1 Explores Future of Denim in New Documentary
The film sees Morrison travel to Italy to trace the industry’s roots.
Scott Morrison of the denim brand 3×1 has partnered with Convicts media for a documentary on the history and future of — what else — denim. The film marks the first episode of a docuseries from Convicts titled “Common Thread,” with new episodes slated to launch later this year and in early 2020.
The first episode of Commin Thread follows Morrison to Italy, where he meets with experts in the denim industry such as Renzo Rosso of Diesel and denim producer Candiani, which was founded in 1938 by Luigi Candiani. While traveling throughout the country, Morrison examines both the luxury end of the industry run by multi-generational family companies, as well as newer fast fashion corporations that have altered the market. The documentary also intends to explore the future of the denim industry, in particular the industry’s approach to sustainability.
“This project was inspired by my passion for denim, but also as a reflection on today’s world and the changes taking place around us,” Morrison explains in a press release. Morrison founded the brand 3×1 in 2011 after previously launching the brands Paper Denim & Cloth in 1999 and Earnest Sewn in 2004.
