Yohji Yamamoto and adidas Team Up for New "YY Exclusive" Clothing Line
The first installment remixes two classic track jackets.
Though longtime partners Yohji Yamamoto and adidas have developed Y-3 into a sportswear powerhouse, the duo occasionally link up for special items in Yamamoto’s mainline collection. The pair’s latest effort is an entirely new line, however, as Yamamoto and adidas prepare to launch “YY Exclusive.”
Reimagined staples inform YY Exclusive’s releases, with the first installment of the line delivering a set of tweaked adidas track jackets. Taking on the Beckenbauer and SST models, the new line reimagines each item in tonal black, green or red iterations, complete with matching Three Stripes branding along the arms.
The SST retains its raglan sleeves and two vertical zippered pockets while the Beckenbauer sports its tall collar; both jackets also offer a smaller horizontal pocket perpendicular to the main placket, along with an oversized, slouchy fit in line with Yamamoto’s preferred silhouettes. Embroidered Yamamoto logos appear on the rear of the SST and chest of the Beckenbauer, with a tag of Yamamoto’s face stitched inside along with a co-branded adidas tag complete with the item number — only 200 of each jacket will ever be produced.
Expect the limited edition Beckenbauer and SST track jackets to hit Yamamoto’s Pour Homme stockists in Japan on June 8 for ¥35,000 JPY (approximately $325 USD).
