Yang Li's SS20 "Greatest Hits (Side A)" Collection Looks Back on the Designer's History
Reviving iconic and popular pieces from the label’s archive.
Returning for Spring/Summer 2020, designer Yang Li has crafted a collection centered around his history. Drawing from the offerings he has crafted from 2012-2018, the latest seasonal range revives iconic and popular items from his label’s archive.
Reimagined to make one cohesive collection, the items serve as a definitive look at the first chapter of Yang Li. Dubbed “Greatest Hits (Side A),” the collection features a mainly monochromatic color palette dominated by contemporary takes on traditional menswear. Tinges of sub-cultural inspiration shine through in the form of detailing that accentuates the designer’s ties to rave, punk and other music scenes. Standouts include a badge covered parka, printed knit sweaters, wide leg trousers and an array of chunky heel boots and loafers.
Additionally, Yang Li has tapped a selection of past collaborators and new artists to imprint their ideas onto some of the iconic and popular designs. Some artists that have worked on the collection include Genesis P-Orridge, Godflesh, Michael Gira, Psychic TV, Ramleh, Swans, Torturing Nurse, Tropic of Cancer, Yung Lean and 左小祖咒 Zuoxiao Zuzhou. Each artist will also be contributing a track for a compilation project which will serve as an accompanying limited edition LP.
