ORIGINAL STORY: Two weeks after dropping “Love Thru the Computer” with Justin Bieber, Gucci Mane is back with another high-profile collaboration. This time around, the Trap God is teaming up with Meek Mill for the lead single in support of his forthcoming studio project, Delusions of Grandeur. Titled “Backwards,” Gucci Mane and Meek Mill’s joint record boasts production from the former superstar’s close collaborator Zaytoven.
Breaking down his new Meek Mill collaboration for an exclusive interview with Beats 1, Gucci Mane labels “Backwards” as “one of the most organic records you can ever make.”
“We made this in a penthouse in Miami … Just in my house, just vibing. So I feel like this, you can’t get more natural than this,” Guwop explains to Zane Lowe, sharing some insight into his latest single’s back-story. “This new song right here, it’s the hardest song of the summer. No doubt … It feels special. Even when we recorded it man, just the vibe. Just sitting down talking, man, just you know what we had in our lives, man, that was special. Like two kings, it’s like salute to salute. Like man, you made it. You made it through. I was praying for you, I was praying for you. I was rooting for you. I knew this was going to happen. Just talking about what we, man, that was serious … We really connect because we done went through some of the same things and we’re still here to talk about it.”
