'Mythbusters' Adam Savage Built an Iron Man Suit That Can Fly
For his show ‘Savage Builds’ on Discovery Channel.
Mythbusters veteran Adam Savage has long been known for his incredible DIY projects on his YouTube channel, and now Discovery Channel is taking his work to television with Savage Builds. The eight-episode series will see Savage creating various builds such as British army gadgets and Mad Max-inspired vehicles, working alongside engineers and other builders. The first episode is now available online for free Stateside and features a truly amazing project: a fully bulletproof, wearable Iron Man suit that can fly.
Savage created the Mark II suit by 3D-printing its entirety with titanium. After putting it together, he worked with Gravity Industries’ Richard Browning to install a jetpack and thrusters onto the suit, allowing it to hover and fly. “I swear, if Tony f*cking Stark was not fictional and he was making an Iron Man suit right now, this is precisely how he would do it and this is the exact technology he’d be using,” says Savage.
