Skepta is the Epitome of Progress in Newest Album 'Ignorance is Bliss'
The followup to 2016’s ‘Konnichiwa.’

After taking a well-deserved three-year break, Skepta has dropped off latest studio album Ignorance is Bliss. The London MC tightly packs old and new influences into 13 clean-cut tracks, marking what is undoubtedly his most diverse effort yet. Noticeably missing from this record are the darker sonic elements that overtook 2016’s Konnichiwa, with Skepta opting to produce crisper and brighter sounds for added effect. Even with the evident grime techniques still present, he embraces his creative growth and, after releasing music for over a decade, fully understands that he’s not required to recreate his signature sound. While the rapper is highly aware of the changes in his immediate environment — including being a first-time father in “Bullet From A Gun” (“It is what it is / Recently I been learning a lot / All I know here’s no better feeling / Than getting home and seeing my little girl in the cot.”) — he remains wary of those who might stab him in the back. Skepta is entering a new phase in his life and he’s more than ready to step into bigger shoes.
