Netflix's 'Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance' Trailer Updates Jim Henson's Dark Fantasy
A prequel to the 1982 cult classic.
Netflix’s The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is a prequel to Jim Henson‘s 1982 film, which is based on a series of books by J.M. Lee. The 10-hour series features an all-star cast, including Taron Egerton, Mark Hamill, Natalie Dormer, Keegan-Michael Key, and many more voicing the previously puppeteered creatures.
The dark fantasy showcases several mythical-like creatures like the elfish Gelflings and the bird-like Skeksis. The latter species crack the titular Dark Crystal, which is the main source of power for the planet Thra, and its energy turns its guardians into monsters obsessed with power. The visuals of Thra itself has been drastically updated from the practical sets of the film to a more computer-generated look to look more modern.
The series premieres on Netflix on August 30. Check out the trailer above for a full preview.
