Watch Finn Wolfhard in the First 'The Goldfinch' Trailer
Alongside Ansel Elgort, Nicole Kidman & Luke Wilson.
Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for The Goldfinch, a feature length adaptation of Donna Tartt’s novel of the same name, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2014. The movie stars Ansel Elgort as main character Theo Decker, with appearances from Nicole Kidman, Luke Wilson and Stranger Things‘ Finn Wolfhard.
The Goldfinch begins with Decker surviving a terrorist attack at a museum, although his mother is killed in the attack. Following the attack, Decker picks up “The Goldfinch,” a painting that gives him comfort as his life becomes more troubled. The trailer hints at the rest of this life, showing Decker struggling with crime and drug addiction, as well as the grief of losing his mother, while holding on to the priceless art work.
In the movie, Wolfhard plays a young Boris Pavlikovsky. Boris is the son of a wealthy Ukranian immigrant who becomes Decker’s close friend and a source of comfort following the trauma. The trailer is soundtracked by Perfume Genius. Take a look at the first trailer for The Goldfinch above, and expect the movie to arrive in theaters on September 13.
