Quincy Jones, Barack Obama & Snoop Dogg Highlight Clarence Avant's Legacy in Netflix's 'The Black Godfather'
The life of the celebrated music exec is finally put under the spotlight.
Take an intimate look at the life of the legendary Clarence Avant in the upcoming Netflix documentary, The Black Godfather.
The two-and-a-half-minute trailer features personalities like Quincy Jones, Barack Obama, Snoop Dogg, Bill Clinton, Jamie Foxx, Diddy, Bill Withers and Ludacris talking about Avant’s impact on their lives and subsequently, professional careers. Their positions in different industries prove the influence Avant has had in the last 50 years or so, starting from his work during the Jim Crow era to the multiple labels he established. As they all commend him for being a mentor, a rock, or a door-opener, Avant comments, “Sometimes I say to myself, ‘How in the f*ck did I get involved in all this?’”
