New 'Stranger Things 3' Clip Showcases Summer in Hawkins
“One summer can change everything.”
Netflix has released a new trailer for the upcoming season of Stranger Things, showcasing summertime in the small town of Hawkins. Anyone anxious that Stranger Things may ditch its winning technique of repurposing nostalgia need only to check out the minute-and-a-half-long video to assuage their fears.
The trailer above harkens back to cheesy 80s coming of age teen movies, heavily dramatized by the choice of music and fashion styles featured. The clip primarily focuses on the connection shared between teen Bucky Hargrove and Mike’s mom Karen, as the two can be seen once again flirting as they did in the previous season.
Notably, the use of the coming of age motif in the clip highlights the fact that the main cast of kids are growing up fast, not unlike the characters they portray. Expect the upcoming season to acknowledge and experiment with the concept.
Check out Stranger Things 3 when it hits Netflix July 4.
