Brijean Epitomizes the Nu Jazz Groove in Visual for "Show and Tell"
The artist’s first single off her forthcoming debut EP.
Nu Jazz artist and percussionist Brijean Murphy, who’s played alongside the likes of Toro y Moi, Girls, Poolside, and more, has announced the release of her debut EP, Walkie Talkie. To commemorate the announcement, the eclectic artist has shared the forthcoming project’s first single “Show and Tell” alongside a music video.
The new track totes a range of genres through various instrumentation. Toting a funky bassline, the track hits into disco territory with chime additives, keyboard melodies, and skittering synth additives. Conga-based percussion graces the track throughout, slowly building until offering up a brief conga solo roughly midway through the cut. The video resorts to rather off-kilter territory, with a couple inside their living room – a man is using an elliptical trainer, with a woman reading as Brijean sings on the TV-screen in the background.
You can check out the video for “Show and Tell” above. Brijean’s debut EP, Walkie Talkie, arrives on June 28 via Native Cat Recordings.
