BMW Unveils M Performance Parts for 2020 1 Series Hot Hatch
The mini-beast has some powerful new additions.
BMW’s sacred 1 Series has always managed to stand out against the backdrop of its competition through its fun-geared real-wheel drive – offering up a more playful and sporty experience when compared to its competitors. But no longer can BMW hold that value close, as the new 2020 1 Series has joined the rest of the industry by switching to front-wheel drive. But unbeknownst, regardless of what type of layout these new mini-beasts host, the range of specs are sure to please old and new fans of the German automotive manufacturer just the same.
Arguably the most anticipated of the newly announced range is the M Performance series M135i, which boasts a 2.0-liter petrol engine that outputs a whopping 302bhp, and can go 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds. The performance model, of course, can be retrofitted with BMW’s xDrive four-wheel drive system, as well as a range of other additions. Various lightweight parts in carbon fiber have been introduced, such as an M Performance front splitter, horizontal-flow rear spoiler, aero flicks, exterior mirror caps, and an M kidney grille that BMW says resembles a “shark nose” look. All of these parts have been hand-crafted with high-quality carbon fiber before being sealed and polished. More M Performance offerings include newly introduced 18-inch sports brakes, doors with LED projectors that project M Performance motifs onto the grounds next to the vehicle, as well as racing quality additions from a distinctive Alcantara grip steering wheel, a Steptronic sports transmission with carbon fiber shift paddles, and more interior accessories.
You can take a look at the newly debuted BMW 2020 M135i in the gallery above. No price has been listed for the M Performance model, but you can expect more details to follow in the near future.
