Maison Margiela Adds $500 USD PVC Shopping Bag to Tote Collection
Half the cost of the brand’s leather version.
Maison Margiela‘s tote collection grows with the addition of a transparent shopping bag as one of its latest releases. The clear grocery-store inspired accessory follows behind the French label’s other recent editions, including a logo-print leather option and a leather model that has been coated with PVC. This time, the John Galliano-led house has stripped out the leather completely and traded the premium material in for glossy PVC.
The shopper is a straightforward piece that features a boxy shape with two top handles and an inner zip-fastened pocket. A CMYK palette patch adds color to the large Margiela branding that has been inked along the side of the style. Finishing everything off is the signature collection-number plaque, plastered front and center.
New York-based fans of the sack are in luck that the city’s recently proposed plastic bag ban likely doesn’t extend to the luxury item — thus far, only “single-use” bags have been explicitly outlined.
Priced at $451 USD, Maison Margiela’s Transparent Shopping Bag is available to purchase now from select retailers such as MATCHESFASHION.COM.
