Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" Beats One of Drake's Streaming Records
Another huge accomplishment.
One week after securing the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, Lil Nas X‘s “Old Town Road” is now racking up another accolade: most U.S streams in one single week. The record was previously held by Drake, who earned it following the 116.2 million streams generated by his Scorpion hit “In My Feelings” in the summer of 2018. Lil Nas X’s new record comes as a result of Billboard classifying the original version and the recent Billy Ray remix as the same single, and the numbers generated in the song’s second week of dominance. Notably, Lil Nas X also holds the honor of being the first artist since Cardi B to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with their very first release.
Taking to Instagram to celebrate the occasion, Lil Nas X posted up a screenshot of Chart Data’s rundown of the aforementioned Billboard record and the stats and figures behind it with the one-word caption of “Legendary.” In another, more recent post, the fast-rising young star-in-the-making shared another screenshot about the news with an excited caption of “ITS OFFICIAL! BIGGEST STREAMING WEEK EVERRRRR! WHAT THE F*CK.”
