Jason Momoa Slaps 'Game of Thrones' Co-Creator in New 'HBO Backstories' Series
“If I beat the Khal, I’m the Khal.”
HBO has launched a new series, HBO Backstories, which features animated shorts of true events from behind the scenes of some of your favorite shows, including Game of Thrones.
In the footage above, we see the series’ showrunners and co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss recall a time when the former drunkenly challenged Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo) to the infamous Slap Game. “I’m going to challenge the Khal because if I beat the Khal, I’m the Khal,” he thought.
The Slap Game sees how much pain your clasped hands can handle from various slaps before you call uncle. Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, was witness to the game and the “firecracker” noise it made in the loud bar where the story takes place. The repeated sound halted her conversation, where her attention was immediately drawn to Benioff’s clasp hand, which had deformed due to the abuse.
