Korea's Gakuro Delivers Effortlessly Louche SS19 Collection
Deconstructed denim, boxy tees and wrinkled parkas.

Korea’s Gakuro serves up deconstructed denim and minimalist layers for Spring/Summer 2019 “Extended Play,” proffering a new twist on warm weather staples. The young label launched its first collection in 2018 and has already demonstrated impressive maturity with an expansive array of accessible layering pieces.
Brilliant pops of red and tie-dye create dramatic contrast against the more versatile basic items, which include white shirts and tees, black slacks and sweaters and monochrome striped T-shirts. Billowing scarves are styled as head wraps, while a trim blazer complements the crossbody bags with its own internal carrying strap. Statement pieces include militaristic parkas and heavily deconstructed vintage Levi’s denim, the latter crafted by Rajn Atelier, yielding a patchworked jacket and jeans, both items sporting juxtaposed panels of washed-out grey and black.
The new collection will hit stores like Korea’s 8 Division in the coming weeks.
Elsewhere in Korea, Olive Drab Service showed off a seasonal array of militaristic layers.
