Diplo Announces New Country Music Project, Drops New Song

Diplo unveils his new country project Thomas Wesley — Diplo’s birth name is Thomas Wesley Pentz, Jr. — and drops the first track, “So Long” featuring Nashville superstar Cam. The release is one of several upcoming collaborations with country artists that will be coming out this year. Listen to the record above.
For the last few months, there has been a spike in the popularity of country music and cowboy aesthetics across all genres of music. With Grammy-winnin’ Kacey Musgraves taking home Album of The Year, the “Yeehaw Agenda” or Lil Nas X’s trap country viral hit “Old Town Road,” it’s easy to see why artists outside of the Country genre are starting to flock to the current movement.
Earlier this year, Diplo has released his Europa EP, as well as the debut studio album from LSD, his collaboration with Sia and Labrinth.
