Vans Taps Artist Yusuke Hanai for Another Surf-Inspired Capsule
The duo also joined forces in 2016.
Yusuke Hanai has lent his illustration skills to several collaborations over the years, and for his latest work the artist has reunited with Vans for a graphic-heavy collection. After first linking up in 2016, the duo returns with another surf-inspired capsule featuring shoes, apparel and accessories.
The footwear in the assortment encompasses classic styles including Vans’ Sk8-Hi 138 Decon SF, Authentic SF lace-up and Slip-On SF. Each shoe has been printed with drawings that utilize Hanai’s signature cartoon-like approach, relying on a black-and-white palette with rich shades of red and green as key colors. The graphics also extend to the apparel within the range, which includes short sleeve T-shirts, an all-over printed button-down and matching boardshorts. A trucker hat and beach towel round out the pieces, ensuring a full expression of surf essentials.
The Vans x Yusuke Hanai capsule is priced at $20 USD for a graphic tee, up to $72 USD for the Sk8-Hi 138 Decon SF. Hanai and Vans hosted a launch event for the collection last week at Thalia Surf in Laguna Beach, California, with styles now available globally on Vans’ website.
