UPDATE (29 March 2019): As it turns out, Lil Wayne isn’t on board with the sale of his notebook. According the sources, his legal team has sent a letter to Moments in Time claiming that the rapper is the rightful owner of the item and that they therefore do not have permission to sell or transfer the notebook to anyone.
Gary Zimet, owner of the auctioning company, says that Tunechi will have to buy the notebook at the $250,000 USD price tag if he truly wants it back. While the YMCMB founder has no problem purchasing his lyric book, he will push through with legal action if Moments in Time doesn’t stop the sale.
ORIGINAL STORY (25 March 2019): Fans of Lil Wayne can now dive into the mind of 17-year-old Tunechi—if they’ve got $250,000 USD lying around.
According to sources, the rapper’s 1999 lyric book, which includes his inputs on Hot Boys’ “We on Fire” and “I Feel It,” is just one of the pieces being sold as part of a rare Cash Money memorabilia collection. The unnamed owner explains that he first uncovered the items after being tasked to clean a car purchased from Cash Money Records, subsequently storing them in a box in his garage.
The items retained water damage after unfortunately experiencing the wrath of Hurricane Katrina, with the owner clarifying that almost everything in his house was destroyed except for the notebook and other items.
