Bode kicks off Spring/Summer 2019 with another round of exclusive layering pieces, this time for London’s MATCHESFASHION.COM. This release repurposes Bode’s worldly tastes into a cohesive array of handmade patchwork and embroidered warm weather garments.
Encompassing a variety of jackets and shirts, the special release offers lush linen and voile, the latter sourced from Georgian curtains, in line with Bode’s trademark approach to scouting premium fabrics from across the globe — one shirt is woven from a rich, crocheted cotton. Elsewhere, a bowling shirt is printed with bamboo imagery and one poplin shirt boasts an embroidered dragon on the rear.
Standout layers include a trio of patchwork jackets, each pieced together by artisans in both New York and New Delhi. A ’30s-era Log Cabin patchwork jacket offers intricate layers of multicolored panels, while the blanket-stitched Flying Geese jacket offsets shades of yellow and green with patterned triangles. Exposed stitching and subtle differences in tone emphasize the unique characteristics of each garment, highlighting the one-of-one nature of Bode’s creations.
The seasonal Bode drop is exclusively available on MATCHESFASHION.COM’s site.
Most recently, Bode was selected as a finalist for 2019’s LVMH prize.
