Jamila Woods Explores Post-Argument Thoughts on "EARTHA"
The latest single in support of her ‘Legacy! Legacy!’ album.
Towards the beginning of last month, Jamila Woods revealed plans for a new studio album known as Legacy! Legacy!, introducing the project by sharing a lead single “about refusing to be essentialized and not allowing your identity to be put in a box,” “ZORA.” Now, for the next single in support of her sophomore LP, the multi-talented singer-songwriter is sharing a track inspired by the legendary multi-discipline artist and activist Eartha Kitt. Fittingly-titled “EARTHA,” Jamila Woods’ new record was produced by Peter Cottontale and revolves around the thoughts that enter your mind immediately following a conflict with your partner.
“‘Who gonna share my love for me with me?’ These are the thoughts that play in your head after an argument with your partner. These are the pages you write in your journal the next morning,” Jamila Woods explains via an official press statement. “This is everything you wish you could have said or everything you’ve said a million times without it being heard. The moment you realize you are worthy of more. Inspired by the badass spirit and wisdom of Eartha Kitt.”

Legacy! Legacy! will serve as the follow-up to Jamila Woods’ debut studio album HEAVN, which arrived in July of 2016. HEAVN features contributions from Peter Cottontale, Nate Fox, oddCouple, Donnie Trumpet, Saba, Kweku Collins and Noname, and is made up of 13 original tracks.
