Goodyear Offers a Taste of the Future With Its Aero Concept Flying Tires
Pioneering an urban aerial mobility ecosystem.
With all the automotive innovation being shown at the Geneva Motor Show, Goodyear Tires showed off just what it has imagined for the future.
Looking far beyond the electric vehicle age we are in now, the tire manufacturer is setting its sights on pioneering the “urban aerial mobility ecosystem” with its flying Aero Concept Tire. The convertible tires are comprised of a set of fan blades housed inside an airless loop, constructed to carry the weight of the car on the road. Attached to an articulated arm, the wheels rotate to sit parallel to the ground and spin to create lift and maneuverability in the air.
Created to potentially solve the ever-present issue of traffic, the Aero Concept Tires feature fiber optic sensors that monitor flight integrity, road conditions, along with vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication modules.
