Watch Pixar SparkShorts' 'WALL-E'-Esque Short Film, 'Smash and Grab'
Follow two antiquated robots fight for their freedom.
Last week, Pixar Animation Studios debuted its SparkShorts short film series with the zestful ball of yarn Purl, which showcased a uniquely feminist lens to male-dominated workspaces. Now, in line with the studios posting schedule for the new series, Disney’s Pixar has released its latest addition, the Wall-E-esque Smash and Grab.
The new short film, directed by Brian Larsen and produced by David Lally, focuses on an outmoded and archaic duo of robots, who toil away at their day jobs inside the engine room of a massive train locomotive. The two risk their livelihoods when they find out they can live outside of their stationed positions, where a battery source that keeps them alive has forced them to reside in jail-like conditions.
