‘The Curse of La Llorona’ Is the Weeping Woman Folktale You Heard as a Kid
Directed by the future director for ‘The Conjuring 3.’
Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have released a new trailer for its upcoming James Wan-produced horror The Curse of La Llorona. The film is based on an old Mexican tale called La Llorona about a woman drowning her children in a fit of jealousy and committing suicide because of her grief.
The visuals above follow a social worker and her children in the ’70s being haunted by a malevolent spirit dubbed The Weeping Woman. Curse of La Llorona will be Michael Chaves’ directorial debut before helming The Conjuring 3. It will also be executive produced by Emile Gladstone and Gary Dauberman (It and Annabelle) alongside Wan.
Curse of La Llorona hits theaters on April 19.
