Maison Margiela & SHOWstudio Debut 'Reality Inverse' Short Film
A visual conversation between John Galliano and Nick Knight.
Maison Margiela has collaborated with SHOWstudio for Reality Inverse, a short film based on philosophies that the house has established over the course of its recent collections. The experimental film is described as a “visual conversation” between John Galliano — creative director at Maison Margiela — and photographer Nick Knight, looking at the oversaturation of imagery in the present day and Galliano’s search for a new luxury at Margiela.
A focal point of the film is Maison Margiela’s signature Grand Slam bag, which is chosen as a reference to comfort and familiarity against an oversaturated and computer-generated backdrop. Reality Inverse has been soundtracked by Jeremy Healey, featuring a sample of Roy Orbison, and features model Duckie Thot.
The film is set to be screened at London’s Serpentine Gallery on February 16 and 17. Visitors to the Serpentine, and select Margiela scores over the course of the season, will be able to watch Reality Inverse using Oculus Go for an immersive 360-degree experience.
