ASICS' SportStyle Division Adds Multicolored Suede & Technical Lacing to GEL-KAYANO 5 OG
Set to release in early 2020.

ASICS‘ SportStyle division has taken the GEL-KAYANO 5 OG and given it a bold technically-indebted update for 2020. Releasing in “White/Multi,” this iteration combines original ’90s runner elements with contemporary hiking design cues such as a reworked tongue and lacing system.
The most notable update for the SportStyle GEL-KAYANO 5 OG is its heavy use of suede which has been used throughout the sneaker’s lower-mid sections and rear. Colors such as green, yellow, red and blue work the multitude of overlapping panels, while crisp white leather forms the shoe’s toe box, vamp, upper-mid section and tongue. Completing the look is an underlay of black leather encompassing the middle and rear-quarter.
Other interesting additions include the hiking-inspired rope lacing system that’s tied down by a set of blue looped eyelets. These laces wrap over the tongue, a component that sits atop of the vamp and features details such as coordinates and a multicolored mesh tongue tab.
Further fusing the heritage design with contemporary elements is its DUOMAX sole unit complete with colored GEL inserts. The ASICS SportStyle GEL-KAYANO 5 OG “White/Multi” is set to release on January 1, 2020 for €139.95 EUR (approx. $155 USD) at retailers such as 43einhalb.
