Snapchat’s New Time Machine Lens Allows Users to See Themselves Young and Old
The latest filter sensation.
Snap Inc. has officially launched its new Time Machine feature for Snapchat, which allows a Snapchat Filter to age and de-age faces through user’s camera phones. Like many other lenses on the app, users must move the slider from left to right to control the feature’s aging process. Moving left lets users de-age themselves, smoothing out the face and removing any hair. Meanwhile, moving the slider to the right adds years to your face, including receding gray hair and wrinkles.
The app utilizes AI machine learning to complete the process, and the interface is relatively easy to use despite all the visual processing. The feature can also be used on the rear camera to age or de-age the face of a friend or someone on TV. This is one of several lenses from Snapchat that has caught on in popularity, including their previous 3D selfie, baby, and gender swap feature.
Like the Snapchat app, the lens is also compatible with both iOS and Android devices.
In other tech news, TikTok may release its own streaming service.
