Gucci Redefines Classic Timepiece Design With New Grip Watch
The first in watch design from Alessandro Michele.
The Gucci Grip Watch is amongst the first collection of timepieces designed by Gucci’s Creative Director Alessandro Michele. “Grip” is a reference to the snug wrist fit as well as the world of skateboarding and the way sneakers stick to grip tape on a skateboard. The offering is showcased in a new still life shoot inspired by Europe’s popular historical jewellery districts and the kitschy interiors of 1970s London. Shot on film, the images celebrate natural light, jewel tones, velvet, silverware and typically British interiors to amplify the tough contrast of the minimal Gucci Grip Watch.
The collection of timepieces are also designed without any definition of gender in mind, keeping in step with the Italian fashion house’s fluid leaning. One Grip design features a yellow gold PVD case and three windows indication the hour, minute and date as well as a yellow gold PVD bracelet engraved with GG. Another watch style touts a steel case and interchangeable green alligator strap. The G-Timeless Automatic watches are crafted with a steel case and black onyx stone dial with a steel bracelet and case. The watch styles can also feature an 18 carat yellow-gold buckle, blue lapiz stone dial with bees detailing and an interchangeable blue lizard strap.
