Thom Browne Experiments With Bubble Wrap and Defies Gender Norms for FW19
Behind the scenes of the designer’s weird and wonderful world at PFW.

Never one to shy away from the unconventional, Thom Browne has once again executed an extraordinary runway presentation to showcase his Fall/Winter 2019 collection. Starting off by repurposing leftover bubble wrap from shipments to design the stage and seats, the material served as inspiration to craft an entire suit–complete with a fur-lined hat and matching Hector bag in tow. The models donned plastic masks adding onto the eccentric display, as deconstructed suits were paired with corsets and Oxford heels. Browne masterfully incorporated feminine silhouettes with traditional tweed and flannel textures, as plaid and striped patterns materialized into off-the-shoulder gowns, billowing skirts and fitted jackets cinched along the waist.
