Junya Watanabe Makes Old Look Cool for FW19
Utilizing patchwork and heritage style in “Silver Swagger.”

Junya Watanabe unveiled his Fall/Winter 2019 collection at Paris Fashion Week, catering to a different demographic seldom represented at fashion shows. Watanabe decided that this season, he wanted to create styles for his generation and earlier, and aptly featured older models in his show titled “Silver Swagger.”
In the collection, patchwork designs are showcased heavily alongside classic heritage styles, as tailored blazers and jackets are fused with plaid motifs and luxe satin and leather. Watanabe also elevated traditional button downs and cardigans by layering them with striking outerwear and fitted denim. The runway show also included collaborations with Canada Goose and New Balance, debuting a monochromatic runner featuring gray, black and white panels and a tan iteration of the 574.
