DAIRIKU SS19 Is Dedicated to Kids Who Don't Want to Grow Up
The emerging Japanese label offers movie references and “Millenials” prints.
Japanese label DAIRIKU made waves with its debut Fall/Winter 2018 collection, directly inspired by youth culture and Americana alike. “A Grow Up,” the label’s Spring/Summer 2019 follow-up, expands upon these themes with loose cuts and playful graphics.
A headband-and-suit look nods to Richie Tenenbaum’s sporty styling, with a slouchy silhouette that foretells the other oversized fits seen throughout the collection, recalling a child wearing his father’s suit. The baggy look further manifests with city skyline-printed shirts, harrington jackets lined with plaid and big washed jeans styled with matching denim jackets. Other prints include an anorak emblazoned with a stylized “Millenials” and boxy T-shirts sporting rainbow-hued “ADULT” verbiage. Clashing stripe patterns and relaxed polos stitched with patches of dancing couples add further graphic appeal to the laid-back looks.
Expect DAIRIKU’s latest to arrive at stockists like BORA BORA in the coming weeks.
