While it’s hard to put Shin’s unique clothing into words, his designs speak almost entirely for themselves. The brands name BLACKMERLE means “a dark-coated dog with irregular streaks and speckles,” with Shin aptly infusing the word into his imprint by spotlighting his garments’ changeable elements alongside his love for unfamiliar textures and materials. In the newly revealed collection, the label carries on with its neo-maximalist design ethos, further showcasing Shin’s ability to create future-forward clothing that looks straight out of a Sci-Fi film.
A few notable pieces include a long trench-like parka that dons a variety of cargo-pockets, a rider jacket in Sherpa fleece, a houndstooth bomber jacket with satin-like sleeves, and an olive anorak with a backpack-like contraption. The outerwear is paired with a diverse range of unique trousers toting contrasting silver-metal zips and a plethora of pockets. As always, the collection and its accompanying lookbook highlight BLACKMERLE’s extensive focus on transformable, customizable and interchangeable design.
