Contrary to some of the Model 3 delays/issues we were hearing earlier on in the year, it appears now that Tesla is promising “immediate delivery” of certain rear-wheel drive Model 3’s on a “first come, first served basis.” According to Electrek, the Elon Musk-helmed company is emailing reservation holders with the enticing offer to take on an RWD version in hopes of sending sales numbers on a quick upward trajectory.

It remains unclear how many vehicle’s Tesla can crank out in this manner, however, the EV specialists feel confident that a good number of its customers will take delivery of the in-demand Model 3 even if the promised version doesn’t line up with their original specification request. It is believed that Tesla has been producing batches of rear-wheel Model 3’s for some time, but for how long remains to be seen.
