Rick Owens delivered another theatrical show for his Spring/Summer 2019 collection at Paris Fashion Week, this time, setting the Palais de Tokyo runway on fire with a burning pyre. The show’s dramatic display set the tone for a ritualistic experience, which saw Owens’s models march down the imposing palace in sculptural silhouettes and geometric crowns.

Owens cited the Tower of Babel and Tatlin’s Tower in his program notes — historic references that materialized on the runway via armor-like leather dresses, flowing gowns made from stained American flags, twisted denim bottoms and architectural silhouettes featuring protruding boxes, metal scaffolding and fringed layers. The color palette was tinted in classic Rick Owens black, while the accessories range featured visor-like sunglasses, Owens’s new boots and Birkenstock sandals, as well as burning torches.
