Mac Miller’s Family & Record Label Open up About the Rapper's Passing
“He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans.”
While fans and friends of the late Mac Miller continue to mourn his death, Miller’s family and record label have released a statement on his passing. Miller, who was found dead due to a possible overdose, was only 26-years-old. The rapper has openly battled substance abuse in the past which he also touches upon in many of his lyrics. The breaking news was first reported by TMZ.
In a statement to Rolling Stone, Miller’s family said:
“Malcolm McCormick, known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26. He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans. Thank you for your prayers. Please respect our privacy. There are no further details as to the cause of his death at this time.”
Tom Corson, the Warner Bros. Records’ Co-Chairman and COO, said:

Others including Chance The Rapper, Kid Cudi, J. Cole, and Wiz Khalifa have also paid their respects to Miller.
