After PlayStation’s Shawn Layden announced that Sony was “looking at a lot of possibilities” surrounding Fortnite cross-play, the company has now launched a beta for cross-platform gameplay. In a statement, John Kodera, Sony’s President and Global CEO, announced that “gameplay, progression and commerce” would now work across PlayStation 4, Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and Mac operating systems.

The statement went on to explain that the beta test is “an opportunity to conduct thorough testing that ensures cross-platform play is best on PlayStation, while being mindful about the user experience from both a technical and social perspective.” The cross-platform beta is available now, but keep an eye out for more news regarding the beta timeframe and implications for other titles in the near future.
