Adam Lister Reinterprets Iconic Works for "Suddenly Familiar" Solo Exhibition
Unveiling an 8-bit version of Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe screen print.

Adam Lister returns with a new solo show at New York City’s Guy Hepner Gallery. Entitled “Suddenly Familiar,” the forthcoming exhibition features a series of original paintings depicting historical artworks except translated in Lister’s signature 8-bit, geometric motif. One of the interpreted works includes Andy Warhol’s famous Marilyn Monroe screen print.
“Lister breaks down these classic images to their most elemental forms by combining the deconstructed and minimal aesthetic of pixelated graphics with the transparency of watercolor paint and the flatness of acrylic paint,” said co-organizer of the show, the TAX collection.
Take a look at select works in the gallery above and expect “Suddenly Familiar” to launch on October 3. Elsewhere in art, Case Studyo and Parra recently completed construction of a new public sculpture in Amsterdam.
