New Documentary Explores China's Fake Sneaker & Resell Markets

VICE News Tonight on HBO has just shared its latest documentary which goes deep into China’s fake sneaker black market located in Putian, China, aka “the city of fakes.”
What makes Putian a hit destination for counterfeit kicks is the fact that the majority of brands actually make their products there, allowing for easy access of samples to be obtain and copied. In the seven-and-a-half minute clip above, VICE meets up with a counterfeit seller named Chan who shows the crew the inner workings of his business, as well as guiding them through Putain and the sea of fake sneakers. As a go-to for some of the best high-quality knock-off sneakers around, Chan states he makes around $100,000 USD per month from sales.
