Japanese label Rainmaker Kyoto has expanded its stylistic horizons beyond mere suiting, with each season pushing the boundaries of the brand’s sophisticated tastes. For Spring/Summer 2019, Rainmaker Kyoto blends traditional Japanese garments with familiar Western silhouettes, with men and women’s items blending the ease of kimono and loose trousers with trim shirting and slouchy turtlenecks. Key layering pieces include collarless coats and blazers cut with sharp, clean lines, complemented by cropped, pressed slacks or undercut by pooling drawstring pants. Oversized shorts offer vertical stripes that playfully contrast with horizontally-striped tees, patterned open-collar shirts and long-sleeved pullovers, with muted buffalo check offering an alternative to the simple linework.
