Panerai Debuts Tough Luminor "California 8 Days" Watch
Scratch and water resistant.

Panerai is back with another sturdy timepiece. This new model, the “Luminor California 8 Days DLC PAM 779,” is a blend of function and fashion, with a clever face that utilizes both Roman and Arabic numerals, purportedly to improve legibility. Another fusion of style and substance comes in the form of “Bund” strap, with rugged contrast-stitched leather elevated by a removable cuff, granting a timepiece classic styling in line with other Luminor models. Proving its heavy-duty design, the watch sports a black DLC (diamond-like carbon) titanium case that’s both lightweight and highly scratch resistant. Furthermore, Panerai’s trademark crown guard system, which utilizes gaskets impervious to water damage, gives the watch an impressive 300-meter depth resistance.
The Luminor California 8 Days DLC PAM 779 launches in August for $11,500 USD.
Elsewhere, Omega introduced a different mid-priced watch, the “Speedy Tuesday Ultraman”.
