Drake Responds to JAY-Z's "Money Phone" Criticism From '4:44'
“What they say? Don’t put money to your ear, oh I didn’t hear that.”
Ever since JAY-Z called out rappers who held stacks of money to their ears on 4:44, there’s been a list of artists who have been directly (and indirectly) responding to Hov’s harsh critique. This included reactions from Future, 50 Cent, Migos’s Takeoff, and now Drake who was in Houston over the weekend to celebrate his annual H.A.W. event where he was spotted with stacks of cash in each ear saying to camera, “What they say? Don’t put money to your ear? Oh, I didn’t hear that.” Of course it’s a small jab at JAY-Z’s infamous line on “The Story of O.J.” where he says, “Y’all on the ’Gram holdin’ money to your ear/There’s a disconnect, we don’t call that money over here,” but who would’ve thought putting stacks of cash to one’s ears would cause such a divide in hip-hop?
