Blood Orange (Dev Hynes) releases another new video and song “Jewelry.” It stars Janet Mock with Kai the Black Angel and musician Ian Isiah making appearances alongside Hynes, who directed the video. Check it out below.
Original Story:
Blood Orange has shared a video for “Charcoal Baby,” the first single from his forthcoming studio LP Negro Swan. The clip, directed by Crack Stevens, is split into two halves, showcasing different two different sides of the artist. The song was co-written with Porches’ Aaron Maine. The female backing vocals on the song are EVA.
Negro Swan follows 2016’s Freetown Sound, which is out on August 24 via Domino. “My newest album is an exploration into my own and many types of black depression, an honest look at the corners of black existence, and the ongoing anxieties of queer/people of color,” Hynes said. “A reach back into childhood and modern traumas, and the things we do to get through it all.”
