Get familiar.
When he’s not grinding at his 9-to-5, Joel Rodriguez moonlights as a virtuoso MC named Superbad Solace and he’s capturing the slowly winning over the eyes and ears of wavering Queens rap loyalists and beyond. Today, on the heels of his recent New York Times feature and new album, Superbad Solace is taking us all on a trip back to a time when Nas, AZ and Mobb Deep reigned supreme through his new video for “Sol Controller.” He tells us over email that “The video is really just a collage of my identify. The Galaxy of Queens, Vintage Polo, Dominican militant steez… the god Rakim.”
Prior to the release of new album, the Queens rapper was making waves with Oprime39 – his brother who he teamed up with to create the Queens rap duo, Timeless Truth. Together they’ve record a number of records with the likes of Sean Price, Roc Marciano and Action Bronson amongst others. Press play to watch above and stream his new album down below.
