Pharrell and Lil Uzi Vert Talk About Their First Time Working Together
And what to expect from their collaboration.
After recently meeting and working together for the first time ever, Pharrell and Lil Uzi Vert visited Beats 1 Radio‘s OTHERtone to speak about their experience in the studio. The duo spoke about their first impressions of each other, the style of music that is to come from the project, what they recently spent their money on, and who their musical inspirations are.
“My first time meeting [Lil Uzi Vert] was the other day in the studio,” Pharrell commented. “I’ve been sort of seeing him just do shit on the scene and he struck me as a guy that’s just not thinking about any kind of rules. Just doing what he likes — good, bad or ugly. He don’t care, and that, I can relate to.”
In terms of what to expect from the duo’s time in the studio, Pharrell said that the music will explore “the newer zones that I’m in,” and the collaboration brought in “that super fresh iteration of where I am and where some of our stuff is right now.” Uzi simply responded with one word: “nuts.”
After covering more lighthearted topics, such as what Uzi bought for his grandma and his love for Marilyn Manson, the duo also touched on more sensitive issues, such as the recent passing of Mobb Depp‘s Prodigy.
