A Closer Look at Liam Hodges’ Las Vegas-Inspired SS19 Collection
Clashing patterns & a new FILA collaboration.
The Spring/Summer 2019 collection from Liam Hodges — which was unveiled at this season’s London Fashion Week: Men’s — was inspired by the designer’s recent trip to Las Vegas. Titled “Slick Trash,” the collection takes influence from the city seen through Hodges’ eyes, with the ideas of dystopia and “hyperreality” running throughout the capsule.
The collection features a range of clashing patterns, with leopard print, flames, and different checks all being used side-by-side. Elsewhere, graphic prints including a centurion chest plate, the “Alone Together” motif and the text “I’ll shave my head I guess and get a tattoo” — a nod to The Goldfinch, another key inspiration — are all included.
Spring/Summer 2019 also sees Hodges continue his ongoing FILA collaboration for the third season. After the joint Original Fitness sneaker from Spring/Summer 2018 and the Disruptor II featured in Fall/Winter 2018, this season saw Hodges take on the chunky Mindblower silhouette with a series of new colorways.
