Ed Sheeran Sued for $100 Million USD for Allegedly Copying Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On"
Grammy Award-winning song is reportedly a rip-off.

Ed Sheeran has just been hit with a $100 million USD lawsuit that accuses him of allegedly ripping off Marvin Gaye’s 1973 mega-hit, “Let’s Get It On.” The song in question is Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud,” which is not only certified diamond, but has also since become the most popular wedding song around the world. The song’s enormous success also won Sheeran a Grammy Award for ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Best Pop Solo Performance’ in 2016, in addition to garnering more than 2.3 billion views on YouTube – while the album it’s on, X, has sold more than 15 million copies worldwide.
As it stands, the estate of Marvin Gaye is alleging the song “Is a carbon copy of Gaye’s ‘Let’s Get it On’” according to reports. The lawsuit also claims Sheeran’s hit song copies the “melody, rhythms, harmonies, drums, bassline, backing chorus, tempo, syncopation and looping” of Gaye’s all-time classic hit.
