Tesla Model Y & Roadster Teased in New Promo Video
With a slated 2020 release window.
Tesla has just released a new video that teases the manufacturing of multiple automobiles, including the Model Y and Roadster. Among the coupes, semis, and SUVs was a vehicle with similar sill and door designs to the Model 3 that the upcoming Model Y is based on. Its rear door shut line and rear wheel also draw parallels to the compact sedan.
It’s been reported that Elon Musk stated in an earnings call that the Y won’t be built at its Fremont facility because of how busy it is there, indicating it could be manufactured at one of the company’s Gigafactory battery plants. Musk also stated “we will not be starting production of Model Y next year. I would say it’s probably closer to 24 months from now… [early] 2020 is a more likely prospect,” with an aim to produce a million Ys a year.
